Custom fields
Add your own fields to tasks, projects, lists and forms — for the whole workspace, or for a single record.
Custom fields hold the information your team needs that Task Arrow doesn't track out of the box: a client, a budget, a contract end date, a region. There are two kinds:
| Workspace fields | Record-specific fields | |
|---|---|---|
| Available on | Every record of that type | One record only |
| Managed in | Settings | The record itself |
| Shown as | Global | Task specific, List specific, … |
| Good for | Things you track everywhere, like Client or Cost centre | One-off details, like a question only one form asks |

Open the right settings page
In Settings, select Edit on Task Custom Fields, Project Custom Fields, List Custom Fields or Custom Form Fields. Each record type has its own set.
Add a field
Select New Custom Field, enter a title and choose a Field Type. See Field types.
Add options (select fields)
For Single Select and Multi Select, select the Add Options button next to the type and list the choices.
Set Required and Default
- Default: the field is added to every new record automatically.
- Required: the field must be filled in before a record can be saved. Required fields are always default fields too.
Save
Select Save.
Add a field to a record
Open the task, project, list or form and select Add Field. The menu lists your workspace fields first (each marked Global), then:
- Manage Custom Fields: goes to the settings page for that record type
- Add Task specific field (or List, Project, Custom Form): creates a field just for this record
settings/record-specific-fieldRecord-specific fields
A record-specific field belongs to one record. Create it from the record's Add Field menu, and edit or remove it from the field's own menu on that record. It never appears on other records or in Settings.
Changing and removing fields
- Renaming a workspace field renames it everywhere it's used.
- A field that's in use on any record can't be removed from Settings. Its delete button says Field is still in use. Remove it from the records first.
- A default field's type can't be changed.
Filtering by custom fields
Every workspace field can be used as a filter in its section and in workflows. The filter pane lists them under Custom Fields.
