Field types

Reference for the 19 custom field types — what each holds and when to use it.

Every custom field has a type, which decides what can be entered and how it's shown and filtered. The same types are used for task, project, list and form fields.

Text and numbers

Choices

Select fields need their options set. Use Add Options in Settings, or when you create a record-specific field.

Dates and times

TypeHoldsUse for
DateA calendar date.Contract end, renewal, inspection date.
Date RangeA start and end date.Leave, a campaign window, a booking.
TimeA time of day.Appointment times, opening hours.

Dates are calendar dates. The day you pick is the day everyone sees, whatever their time zone.

People and files

These types connect records to each other, so you can go straight from one to the other.

Note

For records in a Service Hub service, link fields can only point at records in the same service.
