Tasks

Tasks are the individual pieces of work in Task Arrow — each with an owner, a status, a priority and dates.

A task is one piece of work: Send the Q3 invoice, Review the homepage copy, Order replacement laptops. Every task has:

  • a title and a rich-text description, which can include checklists, links, images and @mentions
  • a status (where it is in your process) and a priority (how urgent it is)
  • one assignee, the person responsible for it
  • optional start and due dates
  • optional reminders that email the assignee
  • optional custom fields your workspace has defined
  • comments, subtasks and a full change history

A task can stand on its own or belong to a project. Any task can have subtasks, and subtasks can have their own subtasks.

The tasks grid

Open Tasks from the sidebar to see a grid of tasks with Title, Start, Due, Status, Priority and Assigned To columns. Service Provider appears too when your workspace subscribes to services.

  • Select a row to open the task in the detail pane.
  • Expand a row with the arrow on the left to see its subtasks in place.
  • Right-click a row to change its status, priority, assignee or dates without opening it. See Quick edits.
  • Chips under the title show the task's project and how many subtasks it has.

By default the grid shows open, top-level tasks that aren't in a project. To see everything else, change the filters. See Filter and find tasks.

On a phone, the grid becomes a list of cards with the same information.
